
A healthy smoothie using blueberries and kefir. Pecans give an added protein bonus.
Ingredients
1 cup organic, plain kefir *
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 fresh pear
1/2 cup raw pecans *
2 tbs agave nectar
No of Servings: 2 Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Instructions
Pour kefir into blender container. Add frozen blueberries and pecans. Cut pear into pieces and add to blender. Add agave nectar and blend together until smooth.
Notes
Kefir is found in the dairy section with milk and yogurt. I recommend organic, whole milk kefir. Helios and Lifeway are two popular brands. As with all nuts, I recommend soaking the pecans in water, draining them and then drying them in a food dehydrator. The book, Nourishing Traditions by Sallon Fallon provides further details on this.
