Chocolate Sauce

Sharon's Healthy Recipes

A healthy version of a chocolate fudge sauce to use on organic ice cream or fruit.

1/4 cup organic butter
1/4 cup organic cocoa powder
1/2 cup Sucanat
1/4 cup agave nectar
1/2 cup coconut milk or fresh cream
pinch sea salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
*optional, 1/4 cup peanut or almond butter

No of Servings: 8     Preparation Time: 10 minutes     Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Melt butter in heavy saucepan. Whisk in cocoa powder, Sucanat and agave nectar. Heat at medium heat until bubbly and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Turn heat to low and whisk in coconut milk and salt and stir until mixture is combined and smooth. Heat for 1 more minute on low. Remove from stove and stir in vanilla extract. Serve warm over organic or homemade ice cream or fruited desserts. Refrigerate left-over sauce. It will harden slightly as it cools, giving it the consistency of soft fudge. To use as hot fudge sauce, reheat in saucepan.

For peanut butter fudge sauce, whisk in peanut or almond butter after coconut milk has been added.
